ON the occasion of the 68th Independence Day of the country, the youth in Kerala took a pledge to uphold the unity and integrity of the country and fight against the divisive and communal forces who are aiming to destroy the secular fabric of the country.

The brutality and brazenness of the recent gang rape of Danish woman near New Delhi Railway Station has shocked everyone in the capital. In the light of growing incidents of sexual assault at public places and increasing feeling of insecurity amongst women. All organisations expressed anger and outrage at the complete absence of security measures around the railway station.

DEMOCRATIC youth of Tripura gave vent to their anger against the deprivation of Tripura of a railway division. Recently the chairman of the Railway Board announced that three new railway divisions will be opened at Jammu (J&K), Gulbarga (Karnataka) and Silchar (Assam). Of these, while Karnataka and Assam are ruled by the Congress party, the Congress is a partner in the ruling coalition in Jammu & Kashmir. This step of the Congress led UPA government is no doubt aimed at reaping political benefit in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

DYFI Tripura state committee and TYF central committee jointly organised massive protest against the brutal attack on Sayandip Mitra, president of DYFI West Bengal state committee and Tapas Sinha, former general secretary of DYFI central committee and CPI(M) candidate from Kanthi Lok Sabha constituency as part of the pre-poll violence of the TMC.

Thousands Protest Rail Fare Hike

NEARLY five thousand activists of the AIDWA, DYFI and SFI were arrested by the Tamilnadu police on June 25, for attempting to stage Rail Roko at over 28 places in the state, in protest against the fare hike. At many places including Madurai, Nagapattinam and Coimbatore the police unleashed attack on the protesters.
