A 23 year old youth, Lenin, committed suicide in Madurai District of Tamil Nadu on 15th July.

In a shocking event, a 23 year old youth, Lenin, committed suicide in Madurai District of Tamil Nadu on 15th July. We come to know that he had been sanctioned an educational loan of 1.90 lakh from State Bank of India. he is a first generation engineer from his family. He has completed his course, but is yet to find a job. Thanks to the "Employment generating policy of Modi Government". In this situation, the Reliance Company and the State Bank of India have been constantly torturing him by demanding repayment of loan. The continuous pressure from the Bank and Reliance and not getting a job forced Lenin to commit suicide.

Commercialisation of education, particularly higher education has brought stark inequality among the people. Higher education is possible for only those who are rich and others have to go through various tortures like Lenin. It is condemnable that a public sector bank like State Bank of India has employed agencies like Reliance for recovery despite Supreme court ruling that "goons" cannot be deployed for the job.

We, the Tamilnadu Unit of DYFI strongly condemn the act of State Bank of India and other banks who treats students in an inhumane manner. We demand immediate action as per law on the officials of Reliance and State Bank of India.
