THE Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has strongly opposed the move of the Hindu Mahasabha to erect statues of Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, in major cities of the country. DYFI condemned the silence of the government in the matter. The Central Executive Committee of DYFI submitted a petition to the Prime Minister and demanded that the government must firmly disallow all such moves aimed at promoting Godse cult in our country. It further said the central government must instruct all state governments to firmly disallow such plans.

MORE than 20,000 tribal youth and students marched through the streets of Agartala on September 10, to voice their stern warning against the divisive forces aiming at dividing Tripura. This vibrant and youthful rally organised by the Tribal Youth Federation (TYF) and the Tribal Students Union (TSU) raised the slogans of unity, peace and development of the state.

DYFI Central Executive Committee strongly condemns the cowardly murder on M M Kalburgi, a renowned writer, ex Vice Chancellor of Hampi University and rationalist. The esteemed literary scholar M M Kalburgi was shot dead outside his home in Dharwad today, producing a wave of speculation on the identity and motive of his killers. Kalburgi died in hospital after being shot at close range by two assailants, who arrived at his doorstep at 9 am on Sunday morning.

The Central Executive Committee of Democratic Youth Federation of India declares its joining in support for the General Strike on September 2, 2015 called by all trade unions in the country demanding withdrawal of anti-labour, pro-corporate amendments in labour laws, withdrawal of land acquisition amendment ordinance, minimum wages not less than Rs. 15,000 per month, same wage and benefits for contract workers at par with regular workers, universalisation of Public Distribution System, banning speculative trade in commodity market, employment generation, enforcement of all basic labour laws, universal social security cover, pension for all, stoppage of FDI in Railways, Insurance and Defense, etc.

Police Brutality On Youth At Tuticorin.

Tuticorin and Tirunelveli districts are witnessing spate of caste killings for nearly a year. The government is a mute spectator. Several police officers played partisan role on behalf of dominant castes thus vitiating the situation still further. Despite several earlier commission of enquiries had pointed out that lack of development is root cause of all caste conflicts, the successive governments did nothing to industrialize the area. The long neglected area is a fertile ground for caste organizations.
